Martin Andreasen, owner of Møllegård, had the opportunity to acquire the neighboring farm and set up seven climate-controlled barns with a total of 5,400 piglet pens. The old sow barn was renovated and converted into a piglet barn during the first half of 2024.
Positive experiences with SEGES' research
"We’ve gotten involved in this because we have many years of positive experience collaborating with SEGES on trials," says Martin Andreasen. "We already have trials underway with both finishing pigs and sows in collaboration with SEGES. In the sow herd, we are currently conducting trials designed to provide new insights into how far we can reduce the protein content in gestation feed without compromising litter growth," he explains.
"One advantage of being a trial host is that we have quick access to the latest knowledge in pig feeding. And it also helps us establish some good work routines. My employees find it exciting that we’re collaborating on trials with SEGES," says the pig farmer from North Jutland.
