Troels Bang is replacing ESF

Updating BoPil ESF stations

Troels Bang took over Eltevgaard on December 1, 2019, and with it, the transponder feeding system using the old BoPil 5 ESF units.

The old stations might have lasted another five years

Troels Bang believes that the old ESF stations might have lasted another five years with a little maintenance. However, given the favorable economic conditions and the budget allocated for the renovation, it was a good opportunity to replace the ESFs, which had already been in service for nearly 20 years.

“The previous owner and I discussed replacing the stations. Given his experience and the service he’s received over the years, I felt very confident in BoPil.”

14 new stations

The delivery consists of 14 new BoPil ESF units, and Troels has opted for the simplest possible technology so that the stations are straightforward and easy for all employees to operate. The former owner of Eltvedgaard has been using 5-series transponders since 1997. His experiences with the transponders, along with those of his colleagues, played a major role in the decision to replace them with new BoPil stations.

Two clear advantages of transponder feeding

Troels comes from a background primarily focused on floor feeding and has two key expectations for electronic floor feeding – the best possible feed control and lower feed consumption.

“If we can manage our herd well and see if we can reduce our feed consumption—that’s one of the things I see as the real strength here. After all, feed consumption is one of the biggest costs we face in pig production.”
